Climate Change: Causes, Impacts, Solutions (GEOG 4720/ENVS 5720): In this course students investigate the science behind the causes of climate change, use literature from scientific studies to understand and explore the ongoing and anticipated impacts of climate change, and engage in practical and informed discussions of the solutions to climate change in a student-centered, active learning environment. Syllabus Landscape Biogeochemistry (ENVS 5010/GEOG 4010): In this course students explore the processes that drive Earth’s biogeochemical cycles, including carbon, nitrogen, water, and other elements; how human activities affect these cycles; and why these cycles are critical for human life. This course has a field research component and counts as a Field Course for ENVS MS students. Syllabus Introduction to Environmental Science (ENVS 1044): This course is designed for early natural science majors or non-majors fulfilling their core requirements. We will explore scientific concepts related Earth's natural and modified systems, and highlight related social issues. Basic knowledge of these topics is necessary for students – as a future professional and community member – to address important environmental challenges and opportunities. Syllabus |
